Summer is just beginning its slow retreat and making way for my most favorite time of year in the Sonoma Valley, harvest. Harvest time is the first sign that cooler weather is just ahead, but even more importantly, in the very near future the valley will be filled with the intoxicating aroma of crush.
Conventional wisdom would say that it would be crazy to post this here…so of course I did.
Why was it so heavy and surreal to hear the news Monday afternoon that Robin Williams had died. Was it that he was just so famous that his personality seemed to be part of my life? Was it that I had met him over 20 years ago when I built some cabinets for his house off Trinity Road and then again in San Francisco? Maybe, but deep down in my gut I know the real reason. It’s the fact that I too battle with depression.
When you live or stay in a place as amazing as the Sonoma Valley, your ability to stay in a shape other than “round” takes work. With all the amazing food and wine to be had in this valley, finding an exercise program that will keep things from getting out of hand is essential.
When it comes to fitness, there are many options in the valley, CrossFit just happened to work for me, so I want to share it with you.
Who doesn’t love a win-win situation! Well, here is a great example of a Sonoma Valley win-win. It’s called the Funky Fridays music series, and it’s happening up at Sugar Loaf Ridge State Park every Friday night this summer. If you’re anything like me, you probably didn’t know this was going on, but here is our chance to get in the know and have some fun!
It’s the middle of summer and life is calling. Even if you have caller I.D. and don’t recognize the number you need to pick up. We live in such a beautiful place that it just requires you to get on the other side of your front door and go have fun.
Here is a list of great places around the valley where you can find some live music and party all weekend long. #yesimtalkingtoyou
